Hungry? Go to a Library

Today in the library staff room, I had my choice of:

1. New England Baked Beans (warm, in a plugged-in crockpot)
2. homemade brownies
3. a 2-lb bag of Hershey's Miniatures
4. black jelly beans from Easter
5. foil-covered chocolate Santas
6. fudge from somebody's trip the Wisconsin Dells

What is it with libraries and food?

We're the same. We get tons of treats at Christmas time and often have leftover birthday cake in the fridge. And usually people bring stuff back after hols.

Actually, 2 years in a row now one of the on-calls (who go around to all the branches and are not regular staff) has complained about there being too many treats in the staff rooms at Christmas. Apparently she had a weight problem (don't we all??) and found it hard to deal with the temptation. It actually required an e-mail from the health and safety committee asking us to also include healthy alternatives or some crap. Hello, people are spending their own time/money on these treats and can do whatever they want. If you don't want to eat them, don't!
